Tips for Parents

Some useful information for the start of the 2018 year!

Sunsafe: We actively promote the school’s Sunsafe Policy.  Children will wear their school hat every day in terms 1 and 4.  The hats stay at school all term. They can be bought at the Office for $5.00.
Homework: Your child’s homework book and a reading book will be sent home each night, except Friday  (poetry day) to be returned the next day. There will be alphabet sounds and sight words, as well as number charts for the children to practise.  Please share these activities with them and sign their home reading log.  Please help your child return these books to school in their book bag.
Junior Assembly: Friday at 9.10 am.  You are most welcome to join us.
Library:  Our library day is Wednesday.  Please encourage your child to be responsible for remembering their book and reinforce the need to carry their library books in their book bags to keep them clean and dry.
Medication: If your child requires medication to be taken at school, please take this directly to the office where you will need to fill out a consent form.
Absences: If your child is sick or is not coming to school please let the office know – text or phone.  The school will follow up all unexplained absences.
Please try to arrive at school by 8.50 am – this allows time for unpacking school bags.  If you are late you must check in at the office first.
PTA Rep: If you would like to be part of the school’s Parent Teacher Association, they meet one evening a month.  Please consider this and see me if you want more information.
Internet Safety: Please fill out the green form in the Enrolment Pack and return it to the Smiley Face window.  The information about your child’s photo, name and work on the Internet is particularly important.
Faculty of Education Placements: At various times during the term we have student teachers in our class as part of the Graduate Teacher Education course.  They will have teaching tasks from the University to complete as well as taking part in our own class teaching programme.
Swimming:  We swim in Terms 1 and 4.  We expect all children to participate unless they are sick and they bring a note.  Wear suitable clothing for easy undressing and bring a waterproof bag for wet togs and towel.
Home Time Pick Up: We welcome parents into the class to see children’s work before and
after school but please wait outside until the class has been dismissed at 3.00pm.
