1 May 2017                                                      Room 16 Term 2 Newsletter

Welcome back to Room 16!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
Miss Harris and Miss Robb our Grad students, will also continue
Working with us on Thursdays.

We have another busy term planned.

We are beginning the term with special topics:
·       The Knighton Way –Being Organised
·       How our bodies work
·       ASB GetWise
·       Matariki and Te Ika a Maui
·       Large and small ball skills
In maths we will be covering geometry, numeration and algebra.
In literacy this term we will continue focusing on developing early literacy skills, phonics and alphabet, handwriting, reading and starting the writing process.
Homework
On Monday to Thursday your child will bring home a reading book.
On Fridays your child will bring home a poem book to share.
During the term the children will also receive spelling words. These words will be basic sight words, which your child will be seeing in his/her reading and writing activities. You can find these spelling words on the classroom blog.
Before school
This term we will be discussing how we can be organised. In Room 16 the children are encouraged to hang up their bags and put their book bags in the green bucket when they arrive at school themselves.
Library
Our library day is Wednesday. The children will bring home one or two library books each.  Please help them to remember to return them to school each Wednesday so they can choose different books to share with you at home.
Junior School Assembly
These take place on Friday at 9.10am. All parents and caregivers are welcome!
Medication
Just a reminder that if you want the school to administer medicine to your child during the school day a consent form needs to be filled out.  These are available from the office.
