27th
July 2018 Room 16 Term 3 Newsletter
We have
another busy term planned. The year is whizzing by!
On
Tuesday the class celebrated 100 days of being at school.
Room 16
had a special day of ‘100-day activities’. It was a lot of fun!
This
term we are focussing on these other special topics:
·
The
Knighton Way –Persistence
·
How
do our bodies work?
· The Junior School Show - ‘Kiwi
Kids are Rock’n it!’ –The dates for your calendar are: 31st August,
3rd Sept, 4th Sept, 6th Sept – (For the show Room 16
children are going to wear a white t-shirt and denim jeans or shorts)
In maths
we will be covering number, measurement, probability and algebra.
In literacy
this term we will continue focusing on developing early literacy skills,
phonics and alphabet, handwriting, reading and starting the writing process.
A reminder:
Homework
On
Monday to Thursday your child will bring home a reading book.
On
Fridays your child will bring home a poem book to share.
During the term the
children will also receive spelling words. These words will be basic sight
words, which your child will be seeing in his/her reading and writing
activities. You will find these words in their homework books.
Before school
The
children in Room 16 are getting good at remembering to bring their book-bag to
school and to put it in the green bucket! Thank you parents and caregivers for
encouraging this.
Library
Our
library day is Wednesday. The children will bring home one or two library books
each. Please help them to remember to
return them to school each Wednesday so they can choose different books to
share with you at home.
Junior School Assembly
These take place on Friday
at 9.10am. All parents and caregivers are welcome!
Medication
Just
a reminder that if you want the school to administer medicine to your child
during the school day a consent form needs to be filled out. These are available from the office.
