CONSERVATION
WEEK – 12-16th SEPTEMBER
It was CONSERVATION WEEK.
Richard Storey from NIWA came to into our class and showed us some rivers.
We learnt about healthy rivers and unhealthy rivers.
We learnt that healthy rivers need trees to shade them.
Healthy rivers need insects for the fish and the blue ducks.
We learnt that there are not many blue ducks.
Richard showed us pictures of healthy rivers. He showed us water from a 'healthy river', an 'ok river' and an unhealthy river.
We used a microscope to look at the insects and creatures that were living in the healthy river.

Here we are learning how to measure how clean the water is.
