Our morning of outside play explorations!

Room 16 loves to play and explore outside!

Every time we did something amazing we put a ‘magic’ stone in the jar.

We filled the glass jar with magic stones and so our reward was a morning of playing and exploring outside!

Check out what we discovered!

We discovered that something was living in the tree. What was it? There seemed to be a web of some sort!
What is up here?

These two girls decided to make treasure maps for a treasure hunt. They were sneaking around the forest planting their clues.
We discovered things living under the bark. Sonny spent a long time searching for creatures. We found worms and centipedes, spiders and slaters (rolly-pollys).

We discovered creatures and looked at them through magnifying glasses.
We discovered creatures inside the rotten logs. The wood was soft. I wonder why?

We discovered friends in the forest too!

We discovered things living under the rocks and in the grass. They were trying to hide from us -I don't know why!!

We experimented with pouring water down a hole. We were analysing, manipulating, and problem solving. Skye, Lukas and Luka had a tyre and a piece of wood that had a hole in it. They were trying to pour water through the hole in the wood and catch it with a cup underneath.

It was tricky - but they discovered that if you line up the container in the right position you can catch the water. The boys kept trying until it worked. Well done!

We discovered the different sounds that musical instruments can make. We were being creative but then Mrs Oliver helped us to play in time, keep the beat, and the rhythm, and we also were learning about loud and soft sounds.

Mrs Johnstone came along with her guitar and we became a band. We sang songs along with playing in our band. We had fun playing!
Evan and Izabel were working together to make a big hole. As they were playing Evan discovered that the wheel barrow was a great way to transport dirt, spades and bark chips around. Evan and Izabel were amazing at cooperating and working together on their project.
We love learning through imaginative play!

On the black board someone decided that it would be good to draw a target. What a fun game to play. We had to discuss the rules for our game and we were learning to take turns. The children found an old cloth to throw at the target.
What a fun time we all had playing outside!
What a lot of great learning and exploring we had!
